The Gusii-Kuria International Investment Expo brings together investors, diaspora, businesses and government to unlock the immense investment potential of Kisii, Nyamira and Kuria.
The Gusii-Kuria International Investment Expo brings together the Abagusii and Kuria sub-nations and will be hosted in Kisii in May 2026. It is spearheaded by a team of professionals from the communities and is apolitical. The professionals have put in their time and resources to mobilise support from fellow professionals, businessmen, investors, political leaders across the divide, the international community and the large diaspora community to make the expo a success.
The county governments of Nyamira, Kisii and Migori have been very supportive and are actively supporting its success. Agencies such as the Kenya Investment Authority, the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency and other relevant agencies have all agreed to support the Expo.
This Expo is conceived as a platform to bring various parties together and as the pedestal on which a mechanism can be established to ensure continuous interaction between those seeking investments and the structures on the ground. A defining characteristic will be the deliberate effort to ensure the diaspora community participates in the Deal Rooms through online participation.
Community-owned initiative focused purely on economic outcomes
Virtual and physical channels for the global Gusii–Kuria diaspora
Pre-scheduled investor meetings with real, measurable outcomes
Investment tracking and partnership execution beyond the Expo

Kisii County is situated in the south-western part of the country, in the former Nyanza Province. Its population is about 1.3 million people. While the county is fairly small at 1,317 sq km, favourable agricultural conditions — average annual rainfall of 1,500mm and temperatures from 16–27°C — make Kisii very well suited for agriculture. The County is also endowed with large deposits of soapstone (talc), used to make exceptional carvings sold globally, with further potential in paper, paint, plastics, cosmetics, rubber and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Nyamira County is one of the counties in Kenya's Lake Region Economic Cluster grouped around the Lake Victoria region. The County's topography is mostly hilly, with the high altitude supporting growth of tea and coffee — the major cash crops. The land is rich in red volcanic soils (Nitosols), deep, fertile and well drained, ideal for diversified farming. Valley bottoms and swampy areas anchor a rich ecosystem supporting aquaculture and apiculture. The average temperature of 19.4°C is favourable for both agricultural and livestock production. The county has five sub-counties and 20 wards.
Kuria region is part of Migori County, situated in the south-western part of Kenya, and is part of the Lake Basin Economic Bloc. The major economic activities are agriculture, livestock production, small-scale mining and business enterprises. Migori County had a Gross County Product of KES 121.1 billion in 2020, with agriculture, fishing and forestry contributing KES 49,324 million. Being a member of the Lake Region Economic Bloc gives the Kuria region access to investment opportunities within the Blue Economy, mining, light industries, and the sweet potato value chain.
